710, 624– Preparation of the GTA Source Document 2008 Update for the four GTA regions (Toronto, Peel, Durham, York) who currently ship waste to Michigan (2003, 2008) Kelleher Environmental was contracted by the GTA Waste Managers Task Group in 2003 to prepare a comprehensive document describing waste export to Michigan, efforts by GTA municipalities to reduce waste export, and future plans to further reduce waste export.  In 2008, the Regions of Durham, York, Peel and City of Toronto jointly hired Kelleher Environmental to prepare a document describing current and proposed waste diversion efforts by all four municipalities to eliminate waste export to the US by 2010.  The report was completed in July, 2008 and provides Kelleher Environmental with an in-depth understanding of all current and future waste management and reduction plans by Region of Peel and its neighbouring municipalities.  This information will be valuable for the proposed project and will save considerable time in data collection.  Insights gained through the project on the current status of waste management plans by other municipalities, and partnering opportunities available will also be valuable to the proposed project.
