Developed presentation and evaluation of anaerobic digestion as a technology to manage municipal waste, and compared environmental and social impacts with thermal processing, bioreactor landfill and composting. Delivered two workshops to municipal staff in Toronto and Calgary.

Carried out a comprehensive study of anaerobic digestion systems in Europe, Asia and North America. Identified AD systems which could process garden waste and other sources of biomass to produce biogas and green energy.

Carried out two studies on anaerobic digestion of Toronto waste (with Allen Kani Associates) in 2001; responsible for estimating the environmental impacts of anaerobic digestion of Toronto waste as part of MacViro Portlands study (2002, 2005).

Developed a list of existing and planned anaerobic digestion facilities in Europe and Asia. Focus of study was facilities which processed source separated organics or mixed municipal waste from residential sources.
